Mirrah, Mirrah!
Mirrah Mirrah:
The girl from "R U the Girl?" reflects on her music and life.
Mirrah impressed viewers when she was on the Chilli and T-boz's talent
search show, "R U the Girl"with her sense of self and talent. She was
always poised and professional. She seemed to have been preparing for
her moment in the spotlight all of her life. She recently took time to talk
to True Artist Entertainment about the show and her life.
True Artist Entertainment: Who were some of your big musical
influences
growing up?
Mirrah: Growing up in a multicultural family, being
adopted at 4 months by a lovable Caucasian couple, I
was introduced to listen to a variety of artists and
sounds such as Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, The Beatles,
Aretha Franklin and Bob Marley.
As I developed my own ear, I gravitated to HipHop,
Classic R&B, Soul, Funk, Chicago house and 80's pop
also.
TAE: What was it like in growing up in Australia?
Mirrah: It was great! Very fresh.....
TAE: What does the word "expression" mean to you?
Mirrah:To me , it describes an emotion, a movement, a
powerful personal statement. Also the best individual
way to share any ideas with others in any type of form
displayed.
TAE: How did you first hear about R U the Girl?
Mirrah: Through fellow producers, artists, whispers
through the winds of Hollywood, and friends.
TAE: Did you hesitate when you heard about the show or
were you ready to jump into it?
Mirrah: I was very hesitant as I wasn't told the
correct info. I thought it was for replacing Lisa
"Left Eye" R.I.P and I was very against that, yet when
I was told the correct info by the 7th informant. I
was prepared to audition and do what I love to do,
which is perform my stories through rhymes and melodic
hooks.
TAE: What was it like when you heard you were a finalist?
Mirrah: What!!! Me?! Woh! ( laughter full of
excitable shock and a YES!! Feeling and saying my
favourite phrase "Thats what I'm talking about!'
TAE: What are Chilli and T-Boz like? Were they like you
thought they would be or different?
Mirrah: They are hilarious, serious/ loving towards
their family and career. I was enchanted to meet real
down to earth women.
TAE: Some people say you weren't chosen solely because
you looked too much like Lisa. Do you feel this is
true?
Mirrah: I can't answer this due to I was not apart of
this decision.
T & C made their decision, and I am really, honestly
soooo excited and pleased they gave me the opportunity
to go further and beyond to achieve my aspiration as
an artist. I had a ball! I wrote the rap, I recorded
with them and rehearsed, to me I won the experience.
As an adult "Pride and Ego" doesn't apply to me, only
accomplishment!
TAE: What did the experience teach you being on the show?
Mirrah: That I am now, not my own hype, I needn't have
doubt nor fear in me as an artist and to believe in
self to accomplish all!
I am very grateful of T & C's blessings.
TAE: What projects are you working on now?
Mirrah:My team and I are working hard on
promoting me "Mirrah" correctly through my
entertainment experience towards my music, voice overs
and acting career. I take my goal seriously and like
'Divine and T-boz & Chilli' respectively said "This is
not a Game" Bless
These ARTISTS CD'S are what I feel you should have in
ya players to keep music, wordplay and HipHop to keep
claiming itself as a positive culture. Any music to
listen to during days 'you need to talk to you' at a
personal time in your life. If I just have the name
it's any thing with their name attached to it.
